Loire Valley

Referred to as the ‘Cradle of the French’ and the ‘Garden of France’ due to the abundance of Vineyards, fruit orchards, artichoke, and asparagus fields long with impressive architectural heritage & many historical chateaux.

The Loire Valley spans 280 kilometres (170 mi), in the middle stretch of central France.

At Peploe’s, we have 4 different areas covered in our books and four different but incredibly talented winemakers.muscadet

  • ‘The Basic’ area, Muscadet de Maine sur Lie from Domaine la Bretonniere.

The particularity of this Domaine is that it is located on unusual granite grounds, making this wine very well balanced, with crispy fruits, lovely acidity but still extremely fresh, it is delicious especially with seafood, light fish and white meat.

Pouilly Fume 2015This domaine’s soil is of calcareous clay producing Pouilly fume that is very expressive, very lively & young in the mouth, showing great length potential, with lovely round soft fruits and a truly wonderful freshness & acidity at the end…you will not find a better Pouilly Fume around..

  • Sancerre, Domaine Cherrier

Sancerre 2015Francois and Jean-Marie Cherrier with father Pierre produce a steely and citrus-driven Sancerre from fine parcels of Sauvignon Blanc planted in Sancerre’s silex (flint) and chalky soils.

Vibrantly aromatic and mineral-driven, this is quintessential Sancerre with a lovely acidity and well balanced wine to finish with, just delicious.

He is more than a sublime, technical wine maker, his ability to produce consistently incredible Sancerre from parcels of all his glorious Domaine, he manages to use the Sauvignon grape in a way that is just pure genius..

The nose on all his Sancerre either from his ‘straight AOC or for his single estate parcels, are always shy, intense & mysterious preparing you for the grand finale…the tasting.

The mouth in all his wine is intense, with powerful aromas of subtle grapefruit, stone fruit, chalk and nettle, the texture is always silky like with an acidity and a length which is just incredible, this is the purest Sancerre you will ever Sample which will leave you in complete shock with the experience….A genius at his best
