This property has a got a real story attached, for one Brendan Behan the colourful Irish Republican, poet, short story writer, novelist, and playwright lived in the building.
The property was the former home of Sam Stephenson an Architect not always popular in Irish terms but 31 Leeson Close would be considered an achievement of balance between modern touches and respectful renovation of a historical Georgian building.

The Shelbourne Hotel
A Tipperary man, Martin Burke, whose ambition was to open a hotel in Dublin that would ‘woo genteel customers who wanted solid, comfortable and serviceable accommodation at a fashionable address’, established The Shelbourne Hotel in 1824.
Burke named his grand new hotel The Shelbourne, after William Petty, the 2nd Earl of Shelburne taking artistic license and adding an ‘o’ to word so that his new establishment was now spelt Shelbourne.
Locally The Shelbourne Hotel is known as The Grand Dame of Stephen’s Green. Luxury abounds in this property, history whispers from the walls and the epitome of Irish traditional hospitality awaits.
Historically the hotel played a key part in Irish Independence, during the 1916 Rising the hotel was garrisoned by the British army. Later in 1922 it was garrisoned by the army of new Free State, it is the historic location where the first drafting of the Constitution of Ireland took place.
